Gerotechnology: Kitchen aids

Ideally, modern kitchens and implements would be designed to be “inclusive”. Items would be as appealing to and usable by “normal” users as by older impaired and disabled users. At present, in order to promote independent living among older people, aids and technology are available which can assist food and drink preparation and eating. Health care professionals should be aware of the variety of kitchen aids, in order to support older people in making choices. The range of items available, and the situations in which they can be most useful, is discussed.
