BackgroundDue to the protrusion of maxillary incisors, skeletal Class II malocclusions can induce an imbalance in lip positioning relative to the face. This study assessed the possibility of distinguishing between treatments with or without extractions of four premolars in facial images of adolescents with skeletal Class II malocclusion.MethodsFacial harmony scores at T1 (pretreatment) and T2 (post-treatment) were determined.ResultsIn both groups, there were statistical improvements in the facial harmony scores, which were significantly greater at T1 than at T2.ConclusionThe results from this study suggest that it was possible to distinguish between pretreatment and post-treatment facial images of adolescents with skeletal Class II malocclusion.
