Developmental dysplasia of the hip

Developmental dysplasia of the hip is a common childhood disorder affecting about 20 per 1000 at birth. Most hips stabilize spontaneously, but those that persist require early intervention to prevent long-term problems. This contribution summarizes developmental dysplasia of the hip and outlines the basis for treatment at different stages of the disease.
