Laparoscopic ureterolysis is an excellent option for patients with retroperitoneal fibrosis of all causes with morbidity and efficacy comparable to open surgery. In patients with primary idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis laparoscopy offers the added advantages of shorter hospital stay and reduced transfusion requirements.
