Thyroid disease in pregnancy

Thyroid disorders are common in pregnancy. Healthcare professionals working with pregnant women and those planning to conceive need to be familiar with their management, in order to optimize outcome and minimize inappropriate medicalization of pregnancies. This review will discuss the maternal, fetal and neonatal issues relating to hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, hyperemesis gravidarum, thyroid nodules and cancer, and iodine deficiency.
