Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a very complex gynaecological condition characterized by ectopic endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity. It mainly affects women of childbearing age, and is frequently associated with incapacitating pain. Successful management requires a significant amount of experience of treatment of this condition and advanced laparoscopic surgery i.e. endometriosis should be managed by a gynaecologist with the necessary expertise of this condition and in reproductive surgery. Several management options are available, and the choice of treatment should be tailored to individual circumstances. A successful outcome can be achieved by proper patient selection, and careful assessment of symptoms and disease extent.
