Good surgical exposure is essential if revision hip surgery is to be successful. However surgical approach and exposure is poorly covered in the literature. This article describes various standard and extended approaches for revision hip surgery. These take account of previous scars and approaches used, the abductors and soft tissues and the implants to be removed.
