Outcomes of Periprosthetic Hip Fractures

Periprosthetic fractures of the femur during or after total hip replacement represent a complex problem that may threaten the function and independence of the patient. The purpose of this paper is to highlight factors related to the patient, the fracture, the associated arthroplasty, and the treatment that may affect outcome. A clear understanding of these factors will assist the treating orthopedist in deciding upon an appropriate treatment plan.
