Presacral Meningocele: Diagnosis and Treatment

Anterior sacral meningocele is an anomaly most frequently presenting as a presacral mass. It is an extension of the dura mater and arachnoid out of the sacral spinal canal into the retroperitoneal and infraperitoneal space through a congenital defect in the sacrum. Spontaneous rupture with subsequent meningitis is the most frequent and dangerous complication. We summarize the management as well as the surgical approaches described in the literature.
