Breast enhancement using Macrolane™: A report of complications in three patients and a review of this new product

SummaryMacrolane™, an injectable compound composed of hyaluronic acid, has recently been marketed for breast enhancement. Three patients who presented to the authors with complications soon after treatment elsewhere are reported. One had severe infection and two had grade 3 capsular contracture. All three patients underwent a surgical procedure to treat their complication. The use of Macrolane™ for breast enhancement is reviewed together with previously published data.
