BMP4 reverses multidrug resistance through modulation of BCL-2 and GDNF in glioblastoma

► BMP4 expression was down-regulated in glioblastoma compared to normal brain in human sample. ► BMP4 expression was down-regulated in human multidrug resistance cell line U251/TMZ compared to U251 cells. ► BMP4 reversed MDR of glioblastoma both in vitro and in vivo. ► BMP4 can negatively regulate BCL-2 and GDNF in glioblastoma; BCL-2 and GDNF can positively regulate MDR of glioblastoma. ► BMP4 reversed MDR by modulation of BCL-2 and GDNF in glioblastoma.
