Suppression of acute morphine withdrawal syndrome by adenovirus-mediated β-endorphin in rats

► Endogenous β-endorphin level in the central nervous system is decreased in opioid addiction. ► An adenovirus-mediated β-EP gene increases endogenous β-EP level. ► Ad-NEP could be a novel method for gene therapy of acute morphine withdrawal syndrome.
