Neuroprotective effects of curcumin on 6-hydroxydopamine-induced Parkinsonism in rats: Behavioral, neurochemical and immunohistochemical studies

►6-OHDA induced lesions produce the alterations in the behavioral pattern and oxidative damage. ►Oxidative stress contributes to the cascade leading to dopaminergic cell degeneration. ►There is a loss of tyrosine hydroxylase positive staining in the striatum following intrastriatal 6-OHDA. ►Results suggest that curcumin protects against 6-OHDA induced neurodegeneration of nigrostriatal dopaminergic neuronal pathway.
