Profiling neurotransmitter receptor expression in the Ambystoma mexicanum brain

► Transcripts for neurotransmitter receptors were detected using human primers. ► Oocytes injected with axolotl mRNA expressed ionotropic and metabotropic. ► Interestingly, we did not see responses following the application of serotonin. ► Membranes from axolotl brain were microtransplanted into Xenopus oocytes. ► We observed 2 types of native GABA receptors.
