Simultaneous CBF and BOLD mapping of high frequency acupuncture induced brain activity

► Simultaneous CBF and BOLD were used to map high frequency EAS at LI4 acupoint. ► Comparison between EAS and minimal-EAS was analyzed to examine the central effects. ► The combination of the two techniques yielded complementary information for EAS. ► Central effects may be elicited by modulating subcortical and limbic regions.
