Expectation enhances event-related responses to affective stimuli

► ERPs was used to overcome limitations in research techniques. ► No cue condition rather than null cue condition was designed as unexpected condition. ► Expected emotional stimuli were rated larger experience than unexpected ones. ► Larger ERPs amplitudes were showed for expected emotional stimuli. ► Emotional valence did not influence the expectation effect.
