Differing effects of NT-3 and GDNF on dissociated enteric ganglion cells exposed to hydrogen peroxide in vitro

► Oxidative stress has been implicated in ageing and disease-related damage of enteric neurons. ► Neurotrophic factors have been reported to have protective effects against oxidative stress. ► We assessed protective effects of NT-3 and GDNF in dissociated cultures of enteric ganglia. ► NT-3, but not GDNF protected against hydrogen peroxide-induced toxicity on enteric neurons.
