Magnetic stimulation intensity modulates motor inhibition

► Previous literature reported inconsistent effects of 1 Hz repetitive TMS. ► Here we examined stimulation intensity modulation of this 1 Hz protocol. ► 1 Hz rTMS was applied over the motor cortex at 40%, 80% and 100% of the motor threshold. ► Motor evoked potential decreased under low magnitude and increased under high intensity stimulation. ► rTMS intensity effects are mediated by different cell types (interneurons, pyramidal neurons).
