▶ Syntactically incorrect sentences elicit the magnetic early left anterior negativity (ELANm). ▶ A prosodic change accompanying syntactic violations leads to minor neuronal responses. ▶ The ELAN primarily reflects local syntactic structure building difficulties. ▶ Very early neuronal activations around 60 ms are elicited by syntactic violations.
