Assessing the roles of presynaptic ryanodine receptors and adenosine receptors in caffeine-induced enhancement of hippocampal mossy fiber transmission

► Unsettled mechanism of caffeine-induced synaptic enhancement was investigated. ► Caffeine enhanced mossy fiber-CA3 synaptic response under blockade of A1 receptors. ► Presynaptic RyRs as well as A1 receptors contribute to this caffeine action.
