Changes in projections to the inferior colliculus following early hearing loss in rats

► Early amikacin-induced deafness affects ascending projections to inferior colliculus. ► Deafness reduces the projections from the cochlear nucleus to inferior colliculus. ► The reduction is more pronounced with more extended periods of postnatal deafness. ► There is no reduction in projections from the dorsal nucleus of lateral lemniscus.
