Effect of middle ear fluid on sound transmission and auditory brainstem response in guinea pigs

► Middle ear fluid effect on middle ear mobility and auditory brainstem response were investigated. ► Mobility of the tympanic membrane, incus and round window reduced significantly at f > 1 kHz. ► Elevation of ABR threshold and prolongation of ABR latency were observed as fluid increased. ► Displacement loss of tympanic membrane correlates well with hearing loss at 0.5-8 kHz.
