Field testing of CCA-treated Brazilian spotted gum

► The biocide chromated copper arsenate (CCA) leached from wood to the environment, but not significantly. ► The dispersion of CCA into the ground was modeled. ► In six years of the experiment the CCA-treated wood showed no degradation. ► The chemical structure of untreated wood has changed significantly after weathering, fungal decay or deterioration.
