Composting of oiled bleaching earth: Fatty acids degradation, phytotoxicity and mutagenicity changes

► The composting process may be used for biodegradation of oiled bleaching earth. ► The efficiency of fatty acids biodegradation reached 95%. ► Changes in C/N ratio occurred from 31 to 15. ► The initial phytotoxicity of the composts was removed.
