Development of a framework for landscape assessment of Taiwanese wetlands

► Wetland assessment methods were improved by incorporating the LDI and area indices. ► The LDI index values vary significantly as the buffer distance increases. ► A wetland plus a 300-m wide swath encompasses the most appropriate assessment area. ► Assessment schematics differ significantly across wetland types. ► Our method is efficacy in regions with high population density and altered terrain.
