چکیده انگلیسی

Water plays an important role in domestic as well as industries. The industrial waste and domestic effluent affect the surface water and groundwater quality, hence the water quality of rivers and groundwater wells mainly depends upon the chemical parameters such as pH, Electrical conductivity (EC), Total Dissolved Solid (TDS), chloride and Total alkalinity etc. In this study the groundwater samples of Gurpur and Netravathi river basin of Dakshan kannada has been considered as the study area. The sampling has been carried out for 26 groundwater open wells in the study area. In this study the water quality sampling has been considered for two chemical parameters such as Electrical conductivity (EC) and Total Dissolved Solid (TDS) for each month in the year 2013 and further it is considered for analysis. The Electrical conductivity (EC) and Total Dissolved Solid (TDS) test has been carried out using Electrical conductivity meter and TDS meter. The water quality chemical parameters are considered as per the standards of APHA. The water level of the year 2013 in each month is also considered, in order to find the variation in water quality with respect to different water levels in every month. The result of this study shows that in post-monsoon period the water level gets lowered which reduces the water quality. This occurs mainly due to reduction in rainfall during summer period. In monsoon period the water level gets raises up due to excess rainfall which automatically increases the groundwater well recharge and also increases the water quality.
