In the present study, each group comprised six animals, and a total of 30 female. Wistar Albino rats weighing 200–250 g were used. The first group served as the control group. Group 2 received propolis at a concentration of 100 mg/kg bw/day in drinking water. Groups 3 and 4 were administered propetamphos at doses of 7.5 and 15.0 mg/kg bw/day, respectively, in drinking water. Group 5 was treated with propetamphos at a dose of 15.0 mg/kg bw/day, in association with 100 mg/kg bw/day propolis in drinking water. Treatment was continued for 28 days, and at the end of this period, blood and tissue (liver, kidney and brain) samples were collected. Plasma and tissue MDA levels and erythrocyte and tissue SOD, CAT, and GSH-Px activities were measured. In conclusion, the administration of propolis was concluded to exhibit antiradical and antioxidant effect, and thereby to result in the alleviation of oxidative stress.
