Evaluating N management strategies for hybrid maize in Southeast Asia

► We evaluate a system of site-specific N management for tropical hybrid maize. ► We compare two and three N-split dressings with adjustments according to leaf color. ► Three N-splits is not better than two in terms of yield or agronomic efficiency. ► Adjusting N rates according to LCC gave more grain and profit than fixed rates. ► The LCC is an effective tool for detecting N deficiency in maize.
