Comparative analysis of essential oil components of two Cryptomeria species from China

► The region and the growth conditions could significantly affect the quantity and quality of the leaf essential oil components of C. japonica and C. fortunei species. ► Some compounds were the first report in the leaf essential oils of the two Cryptomeria species, included anethol, aristolene, liriodenine, β-ionone, β-patchoulene, γ-gurjunene, germacrene D-4-ol, α-elemol, cupressene, abietatriene, selina-3,7(11)-diene. ► The leaf essential oil compositions of the two Cryptomeria species may be used for green plant protection, pharmaceutical, perfume and food industries.
