► Multispectral imaging allowed for more detailed determination of color compared to measurement with a spectrophotometer with an 8 mm aperture. ► Multispectral images can be used to predict sensory perceived color and textural quality of packaged wild rocket. ► Loss of tissue integrity can be detected by NIR wavelengths. ► Yellowing of green leaves can be detected by wavelengths in the visual region.
