Application of a k-ε formulation to model the effect of submerged aquatic vegetation on turbulence induced by an oscillating grid

► We model the turbulent kinetic energy in an oscillating grid tank with two canopies. ► We consider two kinds of canopies: rigid and semi rigid. ► Two terms were added to a k-ε turbulence model to account for canopy dissipation. ► Dissipation is higher in semi rigid canopies due to the movement of the plants.
