► The effect of upwelling deep seawater on biological productivity was investigated. ► The phytoplankton in the upper part of upwelling pipe was drastically increased. ► Composite analysis of satellite images results in the bloom of phytoplankton. ► The detected signal of composite image was statistically significant.
