Fundamental group of asymptotic cones of abelian-by-cyclic groups

In this paper, we study the asymptotic cone of an abelian-by-cyclic group. We find that the fundamental groups of those spaces are uncountable and nonfree by constructing subgroups isomorphic to the fundamental group of the Hawaiian earring.
