Distichia peat - A new stable isotope paleoclimate proxy for the Andes

► Distichia plant and peat have been examined along transect in the Peruvian Andes .► δ13C of Distichia plant is well preserved in peat. ► Decrease ~ 0.97 ± 0.23‰ in δ13Cpeat reflects ~ 1 °C increase in Tair of growing season. ► This relationship can be used as a proxy for paleotemperature reconstruction.
