Presence of the extinct sawfish, Onchosaurus (Neoselachii, Sclerorhynchiformes) in the Late Cretaceous of Peru with a review of the genus

► We report the first record of the extinct sawfish Onchosaurus pharao from Peru. ► It is the first record of Onchosaurus pharao from the Coniacian. ► We transfer the Maastrichtian sclerorhynchiform Dalpiazia stromeri to Onchosaurus. ► Onchosaurus is considered a cosmopolitan, pelagic slecorhynchiform ray. ► It had its widest geographic distribution in the Santonian.
