Evidence of climatic changes in the Venetian Coastal Plain (Northern Italy) during the last 40,000Â years

► A sediment core down to 40 m under the city of Venice was analyzed. ► Sedimentary facies belong to continental and littoral depositional systems. ► Climatic changes in the last 40,000 years were identified through pollen analyses. ► Pollen data were compared with other European palyno-stratigraphic records. ► Interstadials correspond to Dansgaard-Oeschger warming events of Greenland ice cores.
