The Mono Lake excursion recorded in phonolitic lavas from Tenerife (Canary Islands): Paleomagnetic analyses and coupled K/Ar and Ar/Ar dating

► We report on a paleomagnetic/dating study of 3 lava flows from Tenerife. ► The combined K/Ar - 40Ar/39Ar ages are rather similar and range from 32.0 to 33.2 ka. ► Paleomagnetic directions deviate from the axial geocentric dipole (GAD) field. ► The paleointensity values are about 20% lower than the present value. ► First radiometric dated record of the MLE from the northern hemisphere.
