► We describe Cretaceous charcoalified angiosperm woods from Georgia, USA. ► Seven types with scalariform perforation plates are documented. ► Orders probably include Magnoliales, Cornales, Ericales, and Malpighiales. ► However, none of the fossils can be assigned to extant families. ► Some specimens show character-combinations not seen in any extant woods.
