Les Pseudarcellinae, nouvelle sous-famille des Codonellidae (Tintinnida) - le genre Pseudarcella et l'espèce Pseudarcella rhumbleri Spandel, 1909 - description de nouvelles espèces

A new sub-family of the Codonellidae (Tintinnida): the “Pseudarcellinae” is created. It gathers genera having similar morphological and structural features (a cone-shaped or more or less globular lorica, provided with two different-sized apertures) and restricted to Paleogene. The type species of the genus Pseudarcella is reconsidered; quotations, descriptions and figurations attributed to it are discussed. Some morphological criteria are proposed to allow a better description of the species. New species are described: two of them (from Paleocene-Eocene and Oligocene) were already known but referred to an incorrect assignment. Three are unknown and recovered from paleocene and oligocene deposits. At last, an oligocene specimen is figured and assigned doubtfully to Pseudarcella. A better knowledge of these organisms, due to new research particularly in Asia and America, could perhaps afford some biostratigraphical interest. All these individuals are indicative of a warm, shallow environment.
