Magnetic flux surface contours of SST-1 tokamak plasma have been computed from the analytical solution of the Grad-Shafranov equation (GSE) by fitting experimental measurements obtained from magnetic probes and flux loops. The radial Shafranov shift (ÎR) has been calculated following these formulations. An optical imaging system has been employed to detect the boundary of the plasma column formed, from which the plasma center has been inferred. In this study, the radial shift obtained from the plasma flux surface contours computed from the Grad-Shafranov equations have been compared with the radial shift inferred from the optical imaging system. This comparison shows a good agreement between the plasma position shift from the flux surface contours and that from the imaging system.
