Particle swarm optimization for the economic and economic statistical designs of the X¯ control chart

► We propose a new PSO algorithm for economic statistical designs of control charts. ► The results from PSO are compared with those from Genetic Algorithm. ► PSO is better than GA in terms of convergence speed. ► PSO is a promising method for solving economic statistical designs of control charts.
