- Design an binning flow with experimental results of up to 17.3% profit improvement.
By allowing timing errors to occur and recovering them on-line, resilient systems are designed to eliminate the design margin to improve performance or reduce power. With the existence of error detection and correction circuits, performance modeling of resilient circuits is complicated, and the binning method becomes challenging. In this paper, we first develop a new statistical method called SERA to evaluate the resilient circuit performance. It is the first statistical performance analysis tool in the resilient system area. With the help of SERA, we propose an algorithm to determine optimal bin boundaries for profit-oriented binning of resilient circuits. Finally, we present an integrated binning flow for resilient circuits with our optimal bin boundary placer. Experimental results show up to 17.3% improvement in profit.
