In this work, we design a kind of cerium (III) chloride (CeCl3) loaded mesoporous silica (CeCl3@mSiO2) nanoparticles and proved their potential application in preventing the formation of diabetic cataract in vitro and vivo by using a well-established rat model of STZ-induced diabetes.
