New perspectives in the topical delivery of optimized amphotericin B loaded nanoemulsions using excipients with innate anti-fungal activities: A mechanistic and histopathological investigation

The study focused on the exploration of lipids and surfactants for nanoemulsion formulations for the topical delivery of AmB employing excipients with innate antifungal activity. In vitro, ex vivo and in vivo studies corroborated the potential activity of ANE3 (biosafe formulation) working in tandem against Aspergillus and Candida strains. Moreover, the optimized formulation was hemocompatible and toxic free after application. Hence, the explored approach could be a promising alterative to the conventional dosage form.107
