Polymer nanocomposites enhance S-nitrosoglutathione intestinal absorption and promote the formation of releasable nitric oxide stores in rat aorta

Novel alginate/chitosan nanocomposite particles were successfully developed for the delivery of S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO), a physiological nitric oxide (NO) donor, with improved encapsulation efficiency, sustained-release. The developed nanocomposite particles enhanced intestinal absorption of GSNO and thus promoted the formation of NO stores in the blood vessels after oral administration to Wistar rats.103
