Economic analysis of scenarios for the sustainability of extensive livestock farming in Spain under the CAP

► This paper proposes a change in the conditions of cross-compliance of CAP payments. ► The eligibility criterion is compliance with requirements of long-term economic and agri-environmental sustainability. ► Sustainability was studied using the MESMIS framework and a logistic model classification. ► The results showed that sustainability can improve the economic results of Spanish traditional extensive farms.
