► We study the design of optimal trade policy under asymmetric information. ► This is a Cournot duopoly model and the government does not have perfect information. ► We propose an optimal screening (separating) menu consisting of a quota and a tariff. ► We propose different generalizations of the main proposition. ► We finally study the issue of quota revenues.
