Exchange rate undervaluation and economic growth: Díaz Alejandro (1965) revisited

► We study the growth effects of currency undervaluation by looking at its effect on the components of GDP. ► We find that currency undervaluation has virtually no effect on trade performance. ► We find that currency undervaluation has a strong and positive effect on growth by increasing savings and investment.
