I examine how people's consumption of time-saving products can be used to estimate the shadow value of time. I use a household production model to motivate an empirical approach that can be implemented using survey data.

► A method for predicting the shadow value of time decoupled from the wage rate. ► Uses demand for time-saving convenience products to bound the shadow value of time. ► Sketches an econometric model that uses bounds and parametric assumptions to predict the shadow value of time.
