Intertemporal quality discrimination of a durable good monopolist

Consider a durable good monopolist facing the technology constraint that when he introduces a new product, he cannot produce a cheaper variant without a time lag. We show that the qualities of his high-end and low-end products are higher than their efficient quality levels.
